A little bit about me and coaching with me…

“How’d You Get To Be Doing What You’re Doing?”

My path as a “Prosperous Practice Mentor” found me.  I encountered the blessing and the curse of entrepreneurialship back in late 2000. Before I started my own holistic health business consisting of teaching fitness, bowen therapy, massage therapy and life coaching I’d been working in the tourism industry in a luxurious resort, working as a marketing manager. I worked in Whistler BC., what I consider to be one of the most **beautiful** places in the world. I had a ton of great friends, was in a relationship and on my free time you could find me skate skiing or training for triathlons. On the weekends we’d explore the coast and partake in many social affairs.

Sounds like a fairy tale doesn’t it? It was for a long time.

But after enough years of working at a job that didn’t quite feel like me I began to feel deeply dissatisfied. In other people’s eyes it looked luxurious. I was successful. But overtime, I felt bored and uninspired with my work. I became less motivated and believe it or not – I felt like a fraud in my own life. My discontentment with my job started to impact my happiness, my relationship, and my enjoyment of adventurous activities. Many mornings I would wake up feeling like I ought to be doing something different.

I was soon diagnosed with depression and suffered with anxiety attacks.

I didn’t understand what was happening to me. On the one hand there was a voice that said this place is beautiful; I have everything going “right” in my life. Yet there was this other inner inkling telling me regardless of the beauty around me I was meant to be doing something different.

What I realize now is that I was ALWAYS interested in alternative health therapies and would read every book and magazine I could get my hands on. Inside, I had a secret desire to be a “healer” but was always told “be careful, that’s not a financially secure option” or “those types of jobs are woo woo – you should stay on the straight and narrow path”. On a whim I took a weekend course in Shiatsu and LOVED it. I went home and read more books. I then pursued becoming a fitness trainer part-time. I couldn’t get enough learning about the body and how it works.

After exploring a ton of different healing modalities I decided to take a huge leap of faith – one that would change the direction of my life. I altered my entire life. I bought a one way ticket out of BC. I said goodbye to my love affair with the coast, to my relationship and my lifestyle. I moved into my parent’s basement in Calgary, AB and signed up to become a massage therapist.

Although it was heart breaking to be away from the coast, I knew I was where I was meant to be. On the first day of class I felt as though I had “landed”.  Because of my business background, my practice was full 6 months after graduating. I then went on to teach Stott Pilates and massage courses at the college. My keen interest in energy work and the mind body connection led me to become a Bowen Therapist and an NLP Practitioner. Soon after that I stumbled on to co-active coaching.

Though I didn’t realize it at the time, my clients came back to me because they were getting more than a massage. They were getting life altering conversations. The pain in stress in their body melted away the more we explored the inner conflicts during the treatments. Many quit their jobs and pursued massage therapy, coaching, spiritual coaching, reiki, personal training and even a dog walking business. After their course work, many came back to me for help in building their business.

So, my custom-designed purpose on this planet had been unfolding every day, with each new dimension I took on as a healer. The more I trusted my instincts and went with the flow – no matter how scary or hard or odd it seemed my life became far healthier, profitable  and easier. Things now seem to fall into place effortlessly. I couldn’t have planned a better job for me than this! Ten years ago I wouldn’t have believed you if you’d told me I would be an Prosperous Practice Mentor for Healers.

Because of my personal journey, I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping “in the closet” healer’s breakout of their corporate jobs and build prosperous practices. I also have a thirst for helping existing therapists attract a waiting list of clients and get their healing gifts into the world.

Yep.  My ideal clients are women who dream of leaving an unfulfilling j-o-b to pursue their real passion and calling in the alternative health industry. 1.         Prepare yourself internally to be client attractive 

Ever feel a little awkward, unsure of yourself, get physically sick, or feel anxious over the idea of leaving your full time job to grow your business, selling and “getting out there!” In this step we look at developing new attitudinal muscles of self confidence and certainty, and shifting your ideas of marketing into higher energies of service.  It’s about creating powerful daily renewal routines to help you to tap into your true potential, become more courageous and have you align with deep peace, excellence and integrity.  (not just in the AM but before networking events, consultations, speaking engagements, and before working on your marketing projects)  A renewal routine that centers you in optimism, love, faith, non-competition and of being of deep service, will allow you to tap into higher consciousness.  It’s like signing up with an army of light.  You will have an essence of charisma.  Your prospects will sense this about you and it is certain that by casting out fear, your charisma and conviction in and of itself will have you be a client attractive magnet and have you emotionally prepared, living in a powerful place within yourself.

2.         Get business clarity and focus

Most practitioners go into business not knowing how to create structure and boundaries for their personal life, time spent on business-y stuff, marketing and client time. Together we will set your goals, boundaries, intentions, business/life vision and learn how to build a great business from the base up.  You’ll also learn the importance of having a good plan and using your time effectively.  Think of this step as putting your business and your own energy in a constant state of efficiency and productive profitability. You’ll also get to enjoy more time off and be done with overwhelm with this step! 

3.         Discover the difference you want to make in your business

In this step you get really clear about the vision behind your business.  When you understand “How does my business serve the world?” it helps you have clarity about what you stand for, to define and express who you are, keeps you in alignment with what you know is true for you and gives you the power to make decisions that are in alignment with your truth.  A Course In Miracles says “to whatever extent a project or business contributes healing of some form to society; to that extent the project is blessed.  Blessing means mystical support and protection.”  Powerful.  This step also answers your big why, keeps you from comparing yourself to others and has you fulfill your higher purpose.  The more deep, clear and bold you are about being fully expressed, creating meaning for those you serve, show casing your greatness, uniqueness, strengths and what you stand for the more recognizable and client magnetic you naturally become.

4.         Identify and understand your community of clients

Now you have unstoppable inspiration, you know how you want to show up in the world and you have an understanding of how to manage your time and who you “be” in your business.  The next step is to get a clear understanding of who you are meant to serve, what their major struggles are, and how what you offer will improve their lives.  In this step you will research your community of clients and learn how to reach them in a way that has them eager to work with you.  You will come to know exactly what your clients will pay for, where to find them, what’s in it for them and how to communicate the transformations they receive from working with you.  You will soon become the beacon of light for your ideal prospects and have clients self-selecting to work with you and referrals sent from everywhere. Clarifying this step makes it so much easier to enrol clients.

5.         Create A Noticeable Practice

Have you ever wondered how someone assumes expert status and gets booked up in a big way?  Here is the secret – by providing high value, high content, education-oriented marketing copy and programs.  In this step you will create compelling content so that your client’s can easily find you and see you as an authority in your field.  You will create and memorize an “elevator speech” that gets people to say, “Wow, that’s exactly what I need. Can I have your card?” and you will create a tagline that inspires people  so that when they land on your website, when people hear you at a networking group or hear you speaking, they really get that you are exactly what they need and they’ll ask for your card or they’ll want to work with you.

You will also create specific  target market questions that you can see for example at www.HealersWhoProsper.com. You will also use before and after results oriented testimonials that get people to call you and say, “I’m ready.”  These types of testimonials do all the selling for you.  No more sale-y, ickiness.  You may also consider using video to give people the opportunity to get to know you better too.  And, using stay in touch e-newsletters or e-zines really brings clients to you as well.  Essentially, all of your materials will be doing the work for you so you no longer have to work so hard to get clients.  Ahhhhhh . . .

6.         Create enrolling heart-centered connections

It is time to design your own inspired relationship-building plan.  Based on your research and through brainstorming, we will spend considerable time on this step. We’ll review and locate the best and most cost-effective vehicles to reach your ideal clients including speaking, writing, complimentary sessions, the internet, a client attractive website, live and social networking and partnerships, e-zines, workshops, warm letters, blogs, video casts, referrals, speaking engagements and strategic alliances. Once that plan is up and running, we will add different marketing arms to it the mix, to increase your client base consistently.  We will implement a marketing mind map that will have your marketing arms running on autopilot and through “systems” so that you never have to worry about not having client’s again.      

7.         Turn Prospects to Clients Using Heart Centered Strategies

“How do you work with your clients exactly?”

Coaching is done over the phone or Skype. You will complete a coaching call strategy form prior to each call, describing the current challenges and the progress you’ve made since the last call. You determine the focus of each session.  

The commitment is for 6 months.  That may seem like a long time but it’s not!  The time flies when you’re implementing all of these steps.  This journey is just that – it’s a journey and it takes more than a couple of months to do this work.  Many people chose to carry on working with me once their 6 month program is up – because of their results.  Many feel complete.  You will know what is best for you.

“Can you explain my options for working with you?”

“Am I eligible to receive Continuing Education Credits through coaching with you?” 

Yes! Many associations recognize coaching as a method to receive your continuing education credits! (Cool!)  But please contact your association first.  After our sessions togther I would be happy to present you with a certificate of completion which will include your hours of coaching and additional projects at the end of the 6 months.
